Talking Heads live 1978
It’s January 31st 1978 and special guests on this evening’s edition of ‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’ are TALKING HEADS.
The band performed two songs for the broadcast, ‘Don’t worry about the government’ and ‘Psycho Killer’, both taken from their debut album ‘Talking Heads: 77’.
The jittery PSYCHO KILLER, the track featured in the video, was the embodiment of David Byrne's contradictory rock: a throbbing expanse of vehemence - a song about communication and disgust at having to listen to people constantly repeat themselves then retaliating by being terse and leaving.
'I can't seem to face up to the facts / I'm tense and nervous and I can't relax / I can't sleep cause my bed's on fire / Don't touch me, I'm a real live wire / Psycho killer...'
